Here’s the lower level before demo started.

Lower level prior to demo. Floors were southern yellow pine on joists resting on a stone footing running down the middle (with dirt below). Walls were pine tongue-and-groove, which I had painted white when we moved in.

Here’s what the lower level looked like after a day of demo.

This house is built like a church. Cast iron columns supporting true 2-by dimensional lumber.

Tucked under the platform for the altar were two very nice 9' mahogany doors...stowed away for just such an eventuality I guess.
